There is a photo. In it, Eugenio and Iván (the Bondis), Leandro Leccese (another young talent in industrial design), and Martín Tibabuzo (the designer of many famous football shirts, includ- ing some for the national team) surround Ricardo Blanco. They all have the satisfied look of a team that has won a champion- ship by playing well. That desire to play (well) is manifested in this version of the Plaka, which is not only an homage the new champions pay to their reference. Like in a relay race, it’s the passing of a baton. The cover that Bondi (and his companions) make of the Plaka defines what is “ours” in design: ingenuity and refinement. The past and the present are intertwined by affection and a shared vision. The future, forward like that. Cosmic kites. A mid-air strike. A goal.

The Plaka chair is an original design by master designer Ricardo Blanco from 1973. Like much of his work, it predicted thought, movement, and, as in this case, technology. The Plaka chair is technologically framed within the cnc wood-cutting process, a technology that began to be widely used several decades later.
“The Kiss” as a tribute, takes the technique of marquetry (a very ancient artisanal process that allows images to be generated from the inlay of veneers of different woods) and takes it to the extreme, leveraging numerical control processes to generate wood cuts with absolute precision and superlative complexity.
